Sowin’ them wild oats

wild oats

– What’s a “Real World” Denver cast member to do when she wants some granola mix or organic olive tapenade? Since there are few, if any, grocery options currently available in LoDo, you head elsewhere. And so far, many of those elsewhere trips have been to the Wild Oats store at 900 E. 11th Ave. in Capitol Hill

– A few cast members showed up there yesterday afternoon to shop for groceries with a cameraman and microphone girl in tow. One grocery store staffer quipped, “What are they doing here today? It’s dead in here.” They’ve also been known to make the Wild Oats cashiers sign waivers so they can appear on camera but not talk to anyone about their experience.

– This isn’t the first time the cast has visited the natural foods retailer, headquartered in Boulder. Several readers have written in that the cast has been in there off-and-on since arriving in town, picking up items like grapes and cheese.

– At first it would seem like a bit of a haul for them to go shopping there, but then again, where else would they go? It’s only about a 10 minute, three-mile drive from their house at 1920 Market St. You’d just think that in a city like this we’d have a grocery store that was closer to the city’s center. Oh well. It probably helps that it’s a cool store, and that the show is all about scenic backgrounds.

  1. I hear they have coupons to go there or some kind of gift cards they got to get groceries that Real World purchased. I bet that is why they travel so far out of the way to go shopping there.

  2. I have heard that Wild Oats was sponsoring The Real World house. Probably providing lots of free food in the hopes that they get some free product placement when it airs. Not likely.

  3. Mar, where would you shop if you lived in lodo? I live just ne of downtown, and I go to wild oats. there’s not a lot of grocery stores to go to. i could go to cherry crick whole paycheck, but that’s way, way out of the way. and I would’nt be biking there.
