LoDo’s Bar and Grill, a couple doors down from “The Real World” Denver house.
– Between blog comments, occasionally profane posts on our ShoutBox live chat (at the bottom of the homepage) and tips from readers, this site has stayed pretty busy in the past few days.
– True, we haven’t had the two-to-three brand new posts per day that were the norm in previous weeks, but never fear. Here are some of the latest encounters with “The Real World” Denver cast and crew from faithful readers that have run into them lately…
– Unfortunately, these were pretty negative experiences in which our readers were either lied to or treated like children. And we’re not saying that just to malign the cast and crew, but when you get an overwhelming number of e-mails from people that were extremely pissed off, you’ve gotta think MTV’s still being super-aggressive about the way they deal with the public.
– You may recall the experiences that Denver Post reporter Scott Lieber and I have had with the cast and crew thus far, but if not you can read about them here and here.
– Here’s a story from reader Jen that stopped by LoDo’s Bar and Grill recently, a favorite hangout spot of the cast, which lives a couple doors down at 1920 Market St. She was there with her fiancée enjoying some beers when she decided to open her cell phone to text her best friend:
“One of the camera men decided to start dancing like an asshole in front of me because he thought i was taking pictures of the crew that happened to be seated 17 feet away. When my fiancée remarked, “can’t be that real if you control it that much now huh,” and the camera man remarked “good point” and then proceeded to have one of the female camera women stand in front of our table blocking the real world cast…thanks by the way, the light was getting annoying.”

– Reader Brian checked out our post “MTV owns the sidewalk, and other amusing tales” and was compelled to write in with this insane story:
“I was there (at the “Real World” house) awhile back mindlessly walking past when I saw two cast members having an argument out in the front. I paused to just take a glimpse, after all, everyone stops for drama, when the Denver Police Department starts getting all fussy. There were no big crowds or anything of that sort. Being the person that I am that likes to make people work for their money, I ask the officer what the big deal of standing on a sidewalk that we pay to maintain with our taxes is all about.
He proceeds to tell me that (and this is a very civil conversation between the officer and I) The MTV had dropped an enormous amount of money to “rent” the whole block. Now I have no problem with the cast, or the crew filming the show. But damn it man, let me stand on that block in peace! Sheesh! I hope the cast digs the city. I hope MTV packs up soon so we can have our street back.”
– Now obviously that’s a pretty absurd account, but I think MTV has demonstrated its absurdity many times over already. I persisted with Brian, asking him, “Are you serious? I can’t believe that’s true,” but he stuck fiercely to his story. “That is what happened. It was a tad upsetting to be quite honest with you,” he later told me. Yeesh. Renting the block. I’m speechless.

Mind if I ask if you all know who was having the argument? and are you sure that they were both cast members? I mean Denver Local Jokers seem to loiter randomly near the house in order to get try and get their 30 secs in the lime.
