Three weekends ago on another night out on our beloved town the recurring topic I heard was; “where are they and “what if we get on M.t.v? I could care less. I haven’t seen a good season of Real World since Puck left. Some moments have mad me laugh. Like when the gay guy opened the car door and slapped that girl in the face. Otherwise it’s always the same. Throw in varied personalities to ensure plenty of drama and then hire writers to do the editing.
I was standing on top of The Tavern which was a weird place to take refuge from the rain. All the wet party goers downstairs smelled like drunken wet dogs. At least on the roof there is a covered bar and I had some catching up to do with an old friend I hadn’t seen in over three years. He was forced to relocate but it was good to see that he had gotten a tattoo which met my approval. Along both arms in a very large font it read; Mile High. I think anyone who spends enough time in Denver realizes what an amazing time and place it is to be living here.
That’s when I looked down onto the craziness that is Market Street. It was almost midnight, horns honking, hustlers begging and beautiful women, the most beautiful women drenched, absolutely soaking wet. The same scene I observed waiting in line to get in as I desperately wiped the gel out of my eyes that was soaking down my face. It was just like getting ready to go down town then jumping in the shower fully clothed. I then glanced over again just in time to notice some fleeing Real Worlders. I suppose the rain was what they were trying to avoid. There was only two of them but the camera men with plastic bags over there equipment quickly gave them away.
I hopped up and made sure my girl-friend noticed. She still brings it up some times. I was kind of hoping she would get slapped across her face by one of the Real World members and have a real story. At least this season didn’t happen in Detroit. Denver is the place and I am surprised it didn’t happen sooner. We might be invaded right now but maybe when the show airs Denver will finally get the recognition we deserve.
