– Perhaps no other “Real World” Denver cast member has generated more comments on this site recently than Colie (a.k.a. Nicole Mara Edison), the 22-year-old Tulane University graduate from East Brunswick, New Jersey. A flood of recent e-mails to my inbox have attacked and defended her character, her supposed drug habits and numerous other things. Regardless, she sounds like a real piece of work…
– Colie, who majored in communications and was president of her sorority at Tulane (Alpha Epsilon Phi), has been called everything from a great mentor to a cokehead by this blog’s readers. The latter term started a serious comment war on our Meet the Cast and Moblog/Photo Gallery pages, including a comment from someone that seems to be her stepbrother, Jake, writing in to stick up for her.
– One person that went to Tulane with her wrote in to help us identify Colie’s ex, Corey, in the picture above. Apparently he broke up with her right before filming to minimize the “boyfriend syndrome” from the show, according to someone from Tulane. Good call, Nostradamus.
– Another reader that knows her also told us that she has hooked up with cast member Alex (who hooked up with cast member Jenn and may be dating her), and some other people in Denver. “And like everyone else was saying, Colie does a lot of drugs,” he finished. We obviously have no official stance on the drug thing, but I’ve received nearly a dozen e-mails from people around the country saying the same thing (that she enjoys them a bit too much).

– It’s no big shocker that the cast members are hooking up with each other like confined rabbits: Past seasons have featured naked group showers and hot tub parties, bisexual and lesbian cast members making out with each other (clichéd male fantasy, anyone?) and other scenes that amount to softcore porn. Ah, “The Real World”… giving the people what they want.
– Perhaps the funniest comment is one from July 30th from someone calling themselves “Colie fan:” “I have known Colie for years and have never known her to be anything but polite and respectful to her elders. Anybody would be lucky to know her.” Sounds like the kind of comment an elder would make.
Off topic but I’d hate to be that other girl there in the first picture. Hehe

I wen’t to High School with Colie. The HIgh School we attended was extremely large. Colie as well as her little sister were always well known in high school but only for good reasons. Both girls are extremely good looking and have great personalities to go along with it. It is ashame that people that seem to be jealous have to make false statements about such a great character. The only reason I feel people are doing that is out of jealousy.

there is WAY too much talk about Colie on this blog….who cares if she does drugs? Lots of people do drugs…MTV is not going to pick 7 straight arrow teetotalers for the show. Colie is a pawn in a corporation’s quest to make money. Everybody is stating the obvious here. Yes, she is annoying, yes she sucks, yes she does drugs, and yes she acts like she is hot when she is really unattractive (both physically and personality). Does anybody really think MTV picked her because of her redeeming characteristics? The show is not a hit without at least one character that people love to hate. Colie is this character. Period. Let’s move on and talk about Brooke! She truly IS attractive and seems to be somewhat of a quality person. I suppose however, she would not be as fun to talk about as there is not much to bash. No wait, lets talk about the one lucky SOB who is not even a cast member…the guy who is dating Brooke! Anybody know the story with this guy? How they met? Are cast members allowed to hang out with ‘outsiders’ ever with a camera not around?

Colie is one of my best friends and she is the most amazing, fun and outgoing person ever. The only thing that Real World should be upset about is never having another cast member that will be as cool as her.

I don’t know these people, nor do I care about them or their habits. I just caught a commercial for the up coming season and noticed a Tulane tee shirt. As a tulane alum, I did a little investigating. Of course it does not surprise me to hear rumors of cokehead as this girl is a aephi. There are certainly some cokehead aephis at tulane, but more than anything, I think that is more of a steryotype than anything else.

I know Colie because she was my councelor at camp a few years ago. Over that time I got to know her very well, and she got to know me very wel. SHe is extremely caring, kind and outgoing. She has an awesome personality and is one of the nicest people you could ever meet.

I am also a Tulane alum and was in aephi (graduated the year Colie would have been a freshman). I agree that there was a fair share of “cokeheads” in the sorority but no less than SDT, Kappa, etc..I don’t mean to point fingers but its the reality of universities today (or at least super expensive Tulane). She seems like a great girl and to become president of the sorority, she had to have been well-liked and very responsible.

yeah, like everyone else, i know Colie on a very indirect basis, but from what i understand she is a very compassionate and caring individual. who the hell cares if she’s involved herself with drugs, because more than anything, i think being a part of this season’s “real world” will have helped her to step away from that lifestyle. She’s an awesome girl and I only hope the best for her.

I thought I recognized Colie. I was a counselor at CKB when she was a CIT. Everyone loved her. I remember she had a lot of energy, and was well liked by the campers.

In all my years watching the real world i’ve never disliked a character as much as Colie. I mute the TV when shes on, which is about 75% of the show. Shes dominating the action and I’m glad alex is screwing her over. I want to see Brooke get laid.

Come on, Is Tyree still considering a career in politics after the stuff he’s pulled over the season – some advise: anger management – He won’t listen but is more than willing to yell at everyone who has tuned him out. Alex is one of the most down to earth characters and appears to me to be the only sane member from this cast. The girls are typically best friends at first but that lasts for about a week – they’re so fake to each other. Great season though – they are one of the laziest groups though – they weren’t into outward bound and they get rewarded with a trip to Thailand – Please
