Denver’s The Trampolines playing at Red Rocks Amphitheatre.
– MTV plays more music in the background of its game shows and soap operas (er… “reality TV” shows) than it does music videos these days, but it’s still an integral part of the network’s programming. That’s why it sometimes goes local when assembling the soundtracks for its reality shows, including “The Real World,” currently filming in Denver…
– According to a source close to the show, several local artists will provide the backing music for “The Real World” Denver when it airs in the fourth quarter of 2006. They will include Saving Verona, RedLine Defiance, The Trampolines and Melissa Ivey. Albequerque-based singer songwriter Jason Daniello may also make it on there.
– Many of the songs will help fill the interstitial moments between scenes, which is often how MTV uses the music in their current shows. You know, since a five-second snippet of a chorus really conveys a band’s artistic potential.
– Bunim/Murray Productions sought out these bands instead of the other way around, telling them that they liked what they’d heard around town and thought Denver had some incredible music to offer. But we already knew that, didn’t we? Nice of the network to catch up with reality.
– Emerson from RedLine Defiance told The Post’s Ricardo Baca: “They obviously could have chosen a major national act but decided to keep it local. We are very excited about being selected and hope that it may open up some other opportunities for us.”

Well I love all those bands. There are a lot of Denver bands that deserve to be noticed and I really hope this is true but I also know this is kind of a goofy site to poke fun at The Real World.

I’m impressed they’re choosing local music, but I’m going to be the bitch here and say that really sucks that these are Denver representatives - people from all over the country will hear the Trampolines and think ‘Denver.’ OH, THE TRAMPOLINES!!! Nice guys though.

Speaking of songs heard on RW Denver, a listing of the songs heard in each episode would be helpful. What good is it to hear these local bands if you don’t know WHO is playing and where we can find their music.

There’s a list of the songs at Bunim/Murray Productions’ website (www.bunim-murry.com).
