“The Real World” Denver is semi-official

– On Tuesday, MTV will air the reunion show of the “The Real World’s” current season, Key West, at which time they may introduce the cast for the upcoming Denver season…

– Someone’s publicity machine is already in overdrive, posting a brand new “Real World” Myspace profile that rips off images and information heavily from this blog and Reality Blurred. It’s not officially sponsored by MTV although it’s certainly doing their bidding, considering how thorough it is, and the fact that cast member Tyrie is already friends with it.

– What’s really weird is that they posted blogs about the crew threatening me (originally reported on this blog several times in June and July) and other things that would be seemingly negative press for the show. Then again, as they say, as long as they spell your name right there’s no such thing as bad publicity.

– It’s just funny that the show wanted to arrest me for getting too close to the cast, and now someone wants to use this blog as a publicity tool. I know that much of Bunim/Murray Productions holds journalists in low regard (one of them called us “pigs” to one of our sources) but I guess when we’re unintentionally drumming up ratings for the show, they couldn’t care less.

– On that note, tune in to MTV Tuesday at 8 p.m. to (we hope) see the first official reveal of the cast that we’ve known about for months. Yeah, I know… we’re just feeding into their marketing plan, but aren’t you all curious how this is going to turn out?

  2. Hey John …I think it airs at 8pm mountain time. It always does…and 9pm central time and 10pm east…right?

  3. Do you really think that the official Real World MySpace page would look that horrible? You’d think that MTV would probably put a little more effort into this thing. And for that matter, did you read the Q&A where whoever made this MySpage page wrote that they are not an official spokesperson?

  8. Wenzel your info is bogus! I watched the whole reunion episode and they didnt show any Denver stuff at all! Maybe you should just stick to your creepy stalking tactics. HA!

  9. Hmmm… so they didn’t show the Denver promo. That sucks, sorry to everyone about that. Believe me, it was a waste of an hour for me too. The source that told me it has never been wrong before, so I’m not sure what happened.

And Brian — I know, I know… I just happened to be wrong this time. Maybe you’re also ignoring all the info on this site that has turned out to be true (cast member names and faces, their jobs, places they’ve been, etc.) This is a gossip/rumor blog, not the mouthpiece of MTV.

  10. John,
Any way to find out when it will air?

  11. So here is some info for all you guys; if you remember from past seasons, before every new season begins they always do a new cast preview show. This is when they gather between 6 and 10 recent past cast members and they watch the application videos of the upcoming cast. They then talk about who will bring the most drama and who will be hooking up with an obscene amount of strangers. I would expect it within the next 2 weeks.

  12. Maybe the Denver cast will be revealed next week with the additional footage episode that is going to be aired.

  13. Traxwell - I disagree with you. MTV would never show a teaser of the upcoming RW show if the show will not start airing till later this fall. They usually have those preview shows a week or so before the episodes start to wet our appetite for the show itself.

  14. BMac- I believe the Key West trailer was shown the first week of December, with the season premiere February 28th

  15. Yeah, they never showed a teaser trailer for the next season until last season with Austin. After the Austin Reunion Special, they showed the Key West Preview.

I think they did this only becuase Key West was done filming thanks to all the hurricanes and MTV having enough footage.

Them showing a teaser trailer for the next season has only been done with Austin to Key West.

What surprised me the most was that after the Key West Reunion special, there was NO MENTION of the next season in Denver. The host of the reunion shows always leaves us with a remark about the next season’s cast, whether it be “See ya’ll down in Texas for the Real World Austin” or “Do you have any advice for the RW Key West Cast.”

Going back to the no RW Denver promos, I don’t honestly think MTV would reveal the location of the house and the Denver cast while the show was still filming. Even though filming is wrapping up soon, could you imagine how many Denverites/Real World junkies would and could stalk the cast in the final weeks?

I believe we’ll eventually get promos, but as of right now, the Real World Denver won’t show until after this challenge ends and also the current crop of shows that recently began are finished.

Look for the Real World Denver in October of 2006.

    Mark my words.

  16. Yeah, I agree with John…there’s no way they’d show a preview of the denver show while it’s still filming. Too much liability with fans interfering or trying to get on film before it’s done. Yes, they deal with Denver fans every week at the bars but it’s not like the show’s been promoted heavily on a national scale during filming.

It’s on track to start after we MTV junkies get a breather from Key West, focus on another challenge, and then get back to more real world… we’ll just have to wait.

  17. John Ram- Actually, MTV’s practice of showing a trailer of a season during the previous season began with the final airings of the Back to New York season which aired nearly a month longer than expected due to the terrorist attacks of 9-11 (MTV stopped regualar programing for a few feeks following the attacks). During the final episode of B2ny, they aired a “Next season on the Real World…” trailer, but I believe the cast had already moved out of the loft at this time (early December 01)
