“Real World” Denver cast member Tyree sounds like a pretty friendly guy.
– A reader anonymously sent us the phone number for “The Real World” house at 1920 Market St. in LoDo a few days ago so, naturally, I called to see if I could talk to any of the cast members before they permanently leave town in the next couple days. Of course, I wasn’t expecting much (all the legal waivers MTV’s had them sign prevents them to talking to the press) but they were polite, at least…
– When I phoned the house around 4 p.m. today it rang once then prompted me to press “5″ if I accepted the fact that it would be recorded for television broadcast. A polite-sounding guy (Alex, maybe?) answered after another couple rings. I decided to ask for cast member Tyree, since he seems to have the most self-promoting potential and therefore willingness to talk to a reporter.
– Tyree got on after a couple minutes and I introduced myself as being from The Denver Post. “Since you guys are leaving I was wondering if you wanted to comment on your impressions of Denver?” I said to him. “Is there anything you’d like to say, any experiences you’ve had that you want to talk about?” He paused for a second then said, sounding slightly confused, “Sorry, I really can’t talk about that.”
– I told him I had gotten the number from an anonymous e-mail, which prompted him to ask, “Wait, who is this?” I told him my name and he said, “Oh… the guy from GetRealDenver… you’re the one who started all this mess!” He didn’t sound upset — bemused maybe. An automated voice again reminded me that the call was being taped for broadcast, and to press “5″ again to continue.
– I would have asked Tyree what “mess” he was referring to but I sensed him about to hang up, so I thanked him for his time and let him be. Nothing too exciting, I know, but I thought I’d at least give it a try while they were still around…

Maybe you could become his friend on myspace and ask him after they have left. He does comment on myspace that he’s “trying this Real World thing” so it seems as though he may be willing to talk about it a little bit. From what I’ve realized on his profile, he DOES want to be in the spotlight. There may be a possibility that he’ll talk once the recording (audio/video) has finished and he’s not around them anymore.

I dont know too much about this guy Tyree, But it seems black men go tru, one extreme to the next on t.v. From being gay to being gansta hiphop. As a black american male ,I cant understand why these guys(black) who are on t.v. cant just be cool and leave out the sterotypes. Niether side represent me(tyree-hip hop or gay black dude) and that should be made known to the media and society at large.
