The Denver Post’s new building, with a webcam view of Civic Center Park.
– Today the cast of “The Real World” Denver will reportedly leave its house at 1920 Market St. in LoDo for their real homes, but they won’t soon be forgotten. Since arriving here in late May the seven strangers left a pretty big footprint on LoDo, enhancing that area’s already-strong reputation as a party-till-you-puke nightclub destination…
– We thought we’d take this opportunity to outline a few changes to this blog. We’ll still keep you up-to-date on the show’s aftermath, including what’s going to happen to the “Real World” house, how related businesses and residents fared during the filming, and etc. But in order to keep this thing consistently interesting until the show airs (and the real fun begins), we’re expanding GetRealDenver.com to include more nightlife and entertainment content in addition to the “Real World” coverage.
– We’re starting by installing more webcams around town (don’t worry, conspiracy theorists, they don’t have face recognition software). In addition to the one we have trained on 1920 Market St. in LoDo, we’ve added one that looks out the window of our new building at 101 W. Colfax over Civic Center Park. Look for future ones in other citywide hotspots (Larimer Square, 12th and Lincoln, etc.)
– We’re also adding entertainment features like Ricardo Baca’s weekly bar column, Kat Valentine’s Clubs column and soon, record and concert reviews (see the bottom right-hand side of the home page). There’s also a few tricks up our sleeve, including some reader-supported features, that we’ll be revealing in the coming months.
– Side note: Whoever started that unofficial “Real World” Denver Myspace profile deleted it. They got smacked down, presumably, by MTV and/or Bunim/Murray Productions for using their name and logo without their permission. Much like the other “Real World” Denver Myspace profile from a few months back, it only lasted a few weeks.
– Presenting yourself as officially aligned with the show when you’re not is obviously prohibited. It’s the same with whoever ends up purchasing the “Real World” Denver house in LoDo. They won’t be able to give “Real World” tours and make any money off its association with the show unless MTV lets them.

John, Where is your office in the nice, new building? Do you have a window office?
Thanks for keeping us informed of the goings on with the RW.

The Post is on the sixth floor of the new building but I don’t have a window view. We’re all in cubicle-like thingys, only editors get the offices…

Hey John was just wonmdering if you knew how much the RW cast gets paid for the season???

Wondering: I’m not sure, actually. I don’t know that they do get paid, beyond free meals, board, clothes, etc. while the show airs.

When is the Real World Denver season going to begin?
Comment by curious — August 31, 2006 @ 2:02 pm
curious — a few people have said December, although it could really be anywhere from October to then. MTV isn’t saying officially yet, except that it’ll air in the “fourth quarter” of 2006. We’ll let you know as soon as we do, though.

I can’t wait to watch this season on air now I’ve been following this site for so long – thank you John! I read somewhere (maybe one of those Real World books) that the cast does not get provided food and all their income comes from their ‘job.’ Anyone know how much these kids makes each week for the Outward Bound job? And would that be their payment for being on the show or do they get more money other than that?
