– I went to meet some friends at Lipgloss, La Rumba’s excellent weekly dance party, on Friday night and who else should I run into but a few “Real World” Denver crew members? Or perhaps I should say, they ran into me.
– I was crossing the room when I was quickly approached by a couple of them. I didn’t immediately realize who they were, although later I recognized two of them as Brendan and Lauren, of whom we’ve previously posted Myspace pictures. They started taking close-up flash pictures of me with a digital camera, presumably to teach me a lesson about how annoying it is…
– Of course, the obvious differences between my picture-taking of “The Real World” cast and crew and their little table-turning is that I didn’t immediately go crying to a uniformed Denver police officer, or throw baseless legal threats their way. And 90 percent of the times I’ve seen them they’ve been on public property, at work, filming a reality TV show, whereas I was just hanging out with my friends. It would be like if I tried to take pictures of them when I’ve seen them at Snooze grabbing breakfast, even when they’re not doing anything related to the show.
– Whatever… it’s not like it actually bothered me. They didn’t seem to be taking it extremely seriously either, although they were tight-lipped and smug when I tried to ask them about any future plans for themselves or “The Real World” cast. Then again, they would have been idiots to tell me anything, considering all the waivers they’ve signed for their positions (which, according to people that have worked for Bunim/Murray Productions, pay crappily and work them for long hours).
– It’s no surprise, then, that they seemed slightly bitter about the whole thing and were out partying, blowing off some steam. They’re also getting ready for “The Real World” Denver cast return to Denver next week to shoot some promos for the show, which is rumored to be airing in December. That’s right, we may yet see some more drunken antics from the cast, although they may just stay in the house or the mountains most of the time if that’s what the shooting schedule calls for.

– One guy that seemed nice, if a bit bored by my conversation, was the Denver “Real World” house’s production designer, who had flown out here from L.A. He also does several other MTV reality TV shows (“Road Rules”, I think?) but didn’t say much to me about what the inside of “The Real World” Denver house looked like. We’ll all see soon enough, I suppose…
