Touring “The Real World” Denver house

Housey house
Who wants to take a tour of “The Real World” Denver house and meet the cast?

– A press release sent out this afternoon confirmed part of the reason why “The Real World” Denver cast would be returning to the city next week. “Press Week,” as people have been calling it, allows members of the public (and media?) to meet up with the cast and tour the house long before the show airs. The event, to be held Monday from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., will double as a fundraiser benefiting the Denver Art, Culture & Film Foundation

$50, payable by cash or check only, gets you in the door, although the press release has a nice big asterisked line at the bottom stating: “MTV reserves the right to refuse entry to the residence to any individual.” That means me, no doubt. In fact, Ginger White with the Denver Office of Cultural Affairs told me, “I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I doubt MTV will give you access.”

– No big surprise there, since I’ve been at odds with them all summer, calling them on their intimidation tactics and whatnot. But really, isn’t this blog’s overall effect just going to be an increase in viewership when the show airs? They should be thanking me, right? I know my occasionally critical posts have really rubbed the people at Bunim/Murray Productions the wrong way, but hey, so does them threatening and yelling at me for taking pictures of a TV show on public property.

– According to someone at Mattie’s House of Mirrors, (right next door at 1946 Market St., where they’ll serve drinks and hors d’oeuvres prior to the tour), they’re expecting about 200 people. The press release said tickets were available at Mattie’s, but the person I spoke with there said she didn’t have any and that they would be available through the city. Looks like the tickets will just show up the day of the event, so get there early.

– “Space is limited. First come, first served,” says the press release. You can bet it’s going to sell out, especially since it’s offering a chance to meet the cast. No word yet on whether they’re requiring people to sign waivers preventing them from writing about what they’ve seen, but the press release mentions in all caps “NO PHOTOGRAPHS,” and you can bet they’ll be enforcing that particular rule.

  1. Do they usually do something like this after the taping is done?

  2. Not that I’m aware of, but I’ll look into it. I know they sometimes auction off the contents of the house once they’re done with it (i.e. the Key West season).

  5. I’ll try, but obviously if they don’t allow pics I’m not going to take one. I wouldn’t use anything for the blog that I got through unethical means…
