Behold, the unholy union of reality TV and daytime talk shows.
– A recent Craigslist ad was looking for Denverites that had been rubbed the wrong way by “The Real World” Denver cast and crew. The headline: “National Talk Show looking for locals who hated the real world shoot,” was followed by: “We’re looking for people that were negatively affected by the Real World filming in Denver and would like to talk about it on national TV…”
– “If you think that Denver was portrayed in a bad light by the show or if you think that the cast was a nuisance on the town then let us know,” the ad continued. “Tell me your story, your age and send me a picture and we’ll talk about getting you on the show to talk about reality shows and how they are not always a good thing on the towns” (emphasis added).
– Of course I was interested, so I e-mailed them and said I’d been following the show while it filmed in town all summer. Not much later a producer named Brenton from The Tyra Banks Show called me up, curious to know more about my experiences and to connect with more Denverites that had been poorly treated by “The Real World” cast and crew. I told him a bit about this site, and some of the hilarity I’ve experienced simply try to take pictures of the self-important entourage.
– Naturally, I was also interested in his angle. “What’s the theme of the episode?” I asked. “Reality TV hangover,” he said. “We’re talking to townspeople that were either portrayed badly, or the show shooting there had a bad effect on the town. Or reality stars who didn’t have a good time on the show. Basically those three things.”
– Did I want to be on the show? Maybe part of me did, in a weird, perverse way, even though it’d only reinforce all the people writing in to this site, saying I’m just using it to further my own fame somehow (right… since MTV-related blogs really get people moving me up that career ladder). Either way, it doesn’t matter because not long after I got an e-mail from Brenton saying, “We’re actually going to be switching gears on the show and concentrating mostly on Orange County and Reality stars. Just wanted to let you know.”
– Alas, he couldn’t find enough pissed off locals to make it a regional or national story. Maybe he should have read more of the comments on this blog, or checked out the New York Times piece that had almost the exact same angle (albeit probably more dignified than the Tyra Banks Show would present it).

I’m interested in this story on Reality TV.. is it on Tyra Banks Show? I wonder when they will show this.
