“Real World” Denver cast member Colie (right) and an unnamed friend.
– We’ve been running our highly unscientific reader polls since this blog started in June, averaging about two per month. And though it would be easy for those with no life to reload the page and vote for the same thing over and over, the sheer number of votes (averaging 500 per week) and variety of IP addresses they’re cast from implies they’re representative of the people checking us out. On that note, we thought it’d be a good time to look back at some of the results and ask for your suggestions…
– You can see the archive of poll results right here. Our current question, which we’re getting ready to retire, is “Which cast member will make the biggest idiot out of themselves?” followed by a list of the Denver cast members, a question that no doubt elicits a lot of speculation.
– Of course it’s impossible to know the real answer since the show hasn’t aired yet, but enough locals apparently had run-ins with them over the summer that people are voting like crazy, mostly against Colie, who tops the list with a whopping 50 percent of the vote (as of 4:20 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 3), followed by Alex, with about 18 percent of the vote.
– I can’t say I’m surprised, as I’ve watched the comments and e-mails fly over the past few months about what an apparent jerk she is, not to mention her party habits. I have no opinion on the matter since I’ve never met her, but the feedback about her (despite some valiant defense efforts) has been overwhelmingly negative. Guess you can’t outrun all those people you went to school with, no matter how hard you try, huh? Here’s a rundown of the other winners followed by the percentage of votes they received:
1. Which place will get the most airtime on “The Real World” Denver?
LoDo’s Bar & Grille (29%)
2. How faithfully are you going to watch “The Real World” Denver when it airs?
Probably not much (38%)
3. How real do you think “The Real World” is?
Mostly staged (53%)
4. Do you think “The Real World” will benefit the city of Denver?
No (52%)
5. What will be the next “Real World” city?
Portland (23%) and Atlanta (22%)
6. What’s your favorite Real World locale?
Denver (29%)
– As you can tell, the evaluative questions have had pretty negative responses, and the city-based ones favor Denver. But since this is an unscientific poll, there are a million reasons why the results could have come out the way they did. That includes a bias against MTV and “The Real World” in this blog’s readership, (possibly attracted here by our critical approach) or people with vendettas against the cast members.
– Either way, we’re going to keep the polls up well through the airing of the show, which at this point looks to be sometime in early December. So here’s our question: what kind of poll subjects do you want to see? Feel free to leave a comment or contact us below.
