A shot of the snow-covered “Real World: Denver” house from our webcam yesterday.
– Talk about a high-stakes purchase: GetRealDenver.com’s parent, The Denver Post, reported this morning that “The Real World” house at 1920 Market St. in LoDo finally sold for its asking tag of $3.3 million. That’s a profit of $600,000 over the purchase price of $2.7 million. Not too shabby for Bunin-Murray Productions, which bought the former B-52’s Billiards building in the spring from Heritage Bank…
– Denver-based Alexander Group (Steve and his son Shane) will spend more than $1.2 million renovating the 21,927-square-foot house into an upscale joint called Abbey Restaurant and Lounge. Apparently though, the prospects for such an establishment on that bar-heavy block of Market Street aren’t too sunny at the moment. “The 1900 block of Market is a difficult place to do a serious restaurant. It is a place that seems to work very well for drinking establishments,” said Denver restaurant consultant John Imbergamo in the Denver Post article. “The fact that it was the ‘Real World’ house isn’t going to make their life any easier.”
– The new owners plan to “keep about 50 percent of the MTV decorations, including the Jeep Wrangler- turned-bar. The courtyard, where the MTV cast spent last summer playing basketball and hanging out in the hot tub, will be turned into an outdoor bar,” according Julie Dunn’s article. The pool is gone, however. LoDo Restaurant Group’s marketing director Beth Shaughnessy told us that in late October a huge crane appeared in front of 1920 Market St. to lift it out of the courtyard. “You would think for $3.3 million the pool would stay, huh?” she said.
– Remember when Colorado-based Mexican restaurant chain Rio Grande bought the “Real World: Austin” house and turned that into a restaurant? We do. The “Real World: Seattle” house became a fancy seafood restaurant, while other locales (New York, Las Vegas) can be rented out for parties.
– You can read previous posts about the future of the house, the decor and design, the sale particulars and the original move-in.

It would be cool if they converted it into an MTV and Real World themed restaurant but they would have to get permission from mtv..
