EPISODE #21: No love lost

Posted on March.29.2007

No love
Stephen and Colie discuss how little they enjoy each others’ company. That, and snacks.

– After last week’s dramarama we settle back into a more business-oriented groove for this week’s “Real World: Denver” episode. Or do we? Is there any escaping the drama? On a sunny morning Stephen’s busy in the kitchen while his out-of-town friend Darnell is putting his clothes on in Jenn’s room, following their tryst from the last episode.

– Stephen calls Chris, their Outward Bound supervisor, and leaves a message about how he’s going to be late to their meeting since he has to take Darnell to the airport. Tyrie and Davis head to Wild Oats to shop, but the real conversation takes place when Davis bitches about Stephen on the way back in the Jeep…

EPISODE #20: Temper, temper

Denver police
Guess where Tyrie ended up in this week’s episode?

– I once again thought it would be convenient to catch “The Real World: Denver” at its 2:30 p.m. afternoon sneak, instead of the regular 8 p.m. MST time. Here’s a liveblog:

2:30: Flashbacks include Jenn hearing about Jared’s infidelity and Jenn committing her own infidelity with Stephen’s friend Darnell, plus Tyrie and his girl Jazalle getting into it about Tyrie having slept with another girl. And by “getting into it,” I mean Tyrie scaring the crap out of Jazalle by cornering her, yelling at her and pulling her arm. Ah, young love…

“The Real World: Denver” cast returns

Highland Haven 1
The Highland Haven Creekside Inn in Evergreen.

– As we first told you on March 2 and March 6, “The Real World: Denver” cast members planned to reunite in Colorado last weekend to film a wrap-up show for the season (slated to end May 16th). Of course, reruns, reunion shows and “Road Rules” challenges will continue to stuff the seven roommates down our throats, but it seems as if this 18th season is finally coming to an end.

– Local PR consultant Jane Carroll Andrade gave us this exclusive report: “… ‘The Real World’ just wrapped up its long stay in Colorado by taping its final interviews with the cast on Friday (3/16) at the Highland Haven Creekside Inn in Evergreen. The cast and crew fell in love with the historic inn along Bear Creek, where the beds are so luxurious and inviting the cast did a lot of sleeping between takes…”

EPISODE #19: Jenn and Tyrie lose it

Tyrie and Jazzalle
“I love you so much I’m gonna grab your arm and twist it like a Twizzler.”

– I skipped this episode of “The Real World: Denver” to head to Austin, Texas for the annual hipster clusterfunk known as South by Southwest, but I enlisted longtime Get Real Denver contributor Scott Lieber to blog about Episode #19. Here’s his thrilling report:

– MTV opens with a recap of Jenn’s second hookup with Alex, something she blames on a mixture of “Him being a single guy and me feeling lonelyâ€? (read a recent BuddyTV interview with Alex right here). We then hear Davis asking if Jenn likes Jared, and Jenn says she “Loves Jared.â€? Who’s Jared? “I do have someone back home who I sincerely care for,â€? Jenn says. “His name is Jared.”

– We’re also reminded about how Tyrie once juggled ex-hookup Ashley and current girlfriend Jazalle at the same time. Ty suggests Ashley is someone he could “knock out before she leaves,â€? while he confesses he likes Jazalle more, the first girl who has gotten his heart in the last two years. Aw, that’s sweet. He’d never hurt her, right? Wrong

“The Real World” gets a mile high

Posted on March.13.2007

denver2

–On Sunday The Denver Post premiered its new On Point column and don’t ya know, the subject of choice was “The Real World: Denver.” Specifically, how it’s failed to meet our already subterranean expectations. It prompted quite a bit of hate mail from both friends and foes of the show, which I discovered when I came to work Monday morning.

– Several voicemails complained about how there’s nothing to do in Denver anyway, and that “The Real World” is just reflecting the boringness of our city (not true! There’s tons of great shizz to do here). Others thought I was just pointing out the obvious by saying the show sucked. In any event, you can read it right here
