This is going to rock far harder than it is to read.
– If you couldn’t get your fill of local music at this weekend’s Westword Music Festival (and we have this funny feeling you couldn’t), get ready for The Denver Post’s 2007 Underground Music Showcase on Aug. 11. The 60+ bands already confirmed will gather at various clubs on South Broadway for a day of revelry, bad hipster haircuts and most of all, kickass music. How can you beat that?
– How about by being cheaper than Westword’s fete? That’s right: $10 gets you into all the venues in Denver’s own little version of South by Southwest. From Born in the Flood and Hot IQs to solo acoustic acts, the festival promises to be the top local music event of the year. And you won’t have to fight through reams of corporate sponsorship to enjoy it (only the bands get paid at our fest — all the rest is volunteer).
– Check back here for more details, or see the flyer above for a tentative list of bands and venues. The Post will also be running its annual underground music feature in the coming weeks…
