I know you’re a rampant nerd, and along with that comes a love of Mystery Science Theater 3000, the seminal schlock-cable show that deflated the worst sci-fi B-movies with a gleeful, intellectual cynicism. Well, rejoice you remorseless geek, because Denver’s got its own version, and it’s frickin’ hilarious. Mile High Sci-Fi, which began life at the Oriental Theater, will show and mock “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan” on Friday, Sept. 28 and Saturday, Sept. 29. at Starz FilmCenter at the Tivoli Center.
– “It is similar to Mystery Science Theater but different in many important respects,” founder Matt Vogl wrote in an e-mail. “It is live obviously, and we do not limit ourselves to the obscure B-Grade sci-fi genre either. We tend to do movies that were popular in their theatrical release and that have some kind of nostalgic value for people (examples: Red Dawn, Escape from New York, Flash Gordon).
