Free beer ‘n music @ Rock Flick

Heart of Gold
He’s not a hooker, but he does have a heart of gold.

– Rouse your ears and liver! The Onion’s A.V. club is sponsoring a series of events called Rock Flick, which lets a local band pick and introduce its favorite music-related film (rockumentary, concert film, whatever) on the last Wednesday of every month. To kick the series off this Wednesday, Denver/Boulder A.V. editor Jason Heller (of Red Cloud West) will introduce the first flick, Jonathan Demme’s 2006 concert film “Neil Young: Heart of Gold.”

– The best part? It’s free, and so is the Peroni beer they’ll be serving from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. at the Hi-Dive. So, you know, if you don’t like kickass music and free beer, I guess we won’t see you there…

Racines has been a Denver fixture for as long as I can remember. The Sunday-morning waits and call-in chaos say something about its popularity. The exposed-pipe and plush-banquette interior design seems to work for this eatery on the edge of downtown. The problem is, the décor is so generic, it could fit any restaurant. There’s not much room for character…

Previous Denver Oktoberfests took place at Larimer Square (pictured above), but this year the fete moves to the Ballpark neighborhood.

Denver’s 38th annual Oktoberfest kicks off with the tapping of a traditional wooden keg by the Munchner Kindl, the guardian angel and official hostess of Oktoberfest. This year the free festival has a new home, moving from Larimer Square to Larimer Street between 20th and 22nd streets in the Ballpark neighborhood. This will allow more room for beer booths and lots of German food, music and dancing…

– No one would mistake little old Denver for a fashion capitol on par with New York or Paris, but that doesn’t mean our homegrown designers are any slouches. Get a look at the diversity and quality of Mile High City threads when Rise Nightclub hosts the Fall ‘N’ Angels fashion show on Thursday, Sept. 27. The runway event features 45 of the city’s most smokin’ models draped in fall fashions from five trendy local boutiques (Chromosome, Loft 22, Eve, Cool Waves and Violet). 10:30 p.m., 1909 Blake St., no cover, 303-383-1909 for reservations.
