Arrested Development will join dozens of other acts at this weekend’s Colorado Music Summit.
– Between the Denver Post’s Underground Music Showcase, Denver Fest, Monolith and Westword Fest, we’ve seen our share of quality music gatherings this year. Well, make room for another. The Colorado Music Summit, which started Thursday and continues through Sunday, collects 100 musical acts and industry types for a weekend of networking, discussion and — what else? — tunes…
– Granted, most of the performers are either local or of the mid-to-obscure-level variety, but you can hear industry heavies like Chuck Morris and Don Strasburg and check out acts like Arrested Development and Bernie Worrell (Parliament-Funkadelic, Talking Heads). And in any event, the festival’s just getting started. Right?
“Jay Bianchi (Cervantes) and I started talking about it one day at his office about four months ago,” said co-founder Bob Dooney. “We really like the date from a national music conference perspective and thought Denver was the best place to hold it in the USA. It’s obviously a big undertaking so we had to decide whether to do it in four months or 16 months.
“We decided to do it this year, keep it small (comparatively to next year) and learn from our mistakes. With over 100 artists and speakers over four days, I’m not sure, but I think it’s still the largest music conference in Colorado.” What are you waiting for, music-loving fools?
