Wyclef Jean: Far gone from the Fugees and still surprising critics in 2008.
Remember “Gone Till November”? How about “We Just Trying to Stay Alive,” that sweet track that samples the Bee Gees’ “Stayin’ Alive” from the “Saturday Night Fever” soundtrack? Sure you do, unless you were, oh, shipped overseas or living in a cave during that prosperous dreamworld known as the ’90s.
Wyclean Jean, the former Fugees rapper/producer behind those songs, may not have reached the commercial heights of tracks like those in the years since his 1997 disc “The Carnival”, but he’s stayed consistently busy, producing diverse artists and dipping his feet in nearly every genre music…
Jean plays the Gothic Theatre tonight with Lyfe Jennings, a 16-and-up show that kicks off relatively early (7 p.m. doors) The tickets are a bit steep ($39) but it’s probably your last chance for awhile to check a rare Rocky Mountain appearance by this multi-talented MC/musician.
